Stacking Firewood the Right Way to Keep the Moisture Away
If you use firewood
for fuel, you must know how to stack them the right way. Pallets are incredibly
useful with endless number of possible uses. But their role in stacking
firewood must top the list. On pallets firewood can be conveniently stacked for
years. With the use of pallet wrap, a thin, transparent and strong plastic film
applied on rolls, firewood can be stacked easily.
ESZADA WOOD LLC. a
leading biomass supplier has premium firewood
for sale and gives key information on the safety of firewood.
The use of pallet wrap
You must know that
firewood has to be stored somewhere dry, at least for about 2 years to allow
the moisture within the wood to evaporate. With moisture content within the
wood, much of the precious carbon energy locked in the wood would be wasted for
evaporating the water while burning.
While proper stacking
allows firewood to dry up completely, it also ensures convenient storage of wood.
It saves space. Additionally, pallet wraps help stop the stack from collapsing and also provides heat from the greenhouse effect of using this thin
translucent film.
You may think of throwing
the logs onto the ground and covering them with tarpaulin. However, it is not a
good choice as it can have several problems:
- Unnecessary wastage of space
- Additional costs as tarpaulins are expensive
- Logs wouldn’t dry effectively due to lack of proper ventilation
- Logs stay in contact with the soil so stay damp
When stacked using
pellets and covered with pellet wraps, firewood losses contact with the ground
and get proper ventilation. Air can also circulate under the log stack. Vents
can also be created in the pallet wrap to let the water evaporate.
After you get enough logs from premium firewood for sale, you must arrange for proper stacking to keep the wood dry.
